During this screening extravaganza, a licensed speech-language pathologist (AKA speech therapist) on Northshore Pediatric Therapy’s team will gather an initial clinical impression of your child's developmental communication skills, then provide recommendations for further evaluation, if appropriate.

Your clinician will take a closer look at…

• Speech clarity

• Understanding of basic concepts

• Spoken sentence length

• Vocabulary

• Grammar

• Sentence structure

• Understanding questions

• Social skills

Here’s the plan for scheduling:

1. You pick the 1-hour time block that works best for your schedule.

   9:00-10:00am

   10:00-11:00am

   11:00am-12:00pm

2. Arrive any time during your 1-hour block. There may be a wait while we work with other families in the same block, so please be sure to come at a time that allows your full 10-15 minute appointment, plus some wiggle room.

3. If it looks like there will be a wait or you know that your child needs extra time to warm up in a new space, a play room will be available to explore before the clinician works with them.

4. The clinician may also come into the play room and hang out with your kiddo during a less formal, play-based screening.

5. Please let us know ahead of time if new environments and/or people are big challenges for your child. We will do our best to conduct the screening in a low-key way that looks less like work, more like play!

6. Otherwise, the clinician will bring your child into the next room (also full of toys) to complete a traditional table-based screening. It’ll still be pretty fun, though!

  15-minute, one-on-one appointment with your clinician during your 1-hour time block

  Ages 3-6 years

  Screening articulation and receptive, expressive, and social language

  Identifying possible risk for delay or disorder

  Receive clinical interpretation and recommendations for your next steps
